How to get coins in Pokémon GO using Gyms

There are two ways to earn Pokécoins, the coins premium from Pokémon GO. Unfortunately, one of them is to use real money. The good news is that the other method is free, since it is only about placing your Pokémons in Gyms and defending them.

In this article we show you how to do that in two steps. Soon you will earn a lot of coins in Pokémon GO!

Step 1: Put a Pokémon of yours in a Gym

When you reach level 5, you will unlock the Gyms. They are giant towers, quite different from PokéStops, so don’t confuse them! When you unlock them, try to find a Gym that is not dominated or owned by your team. After finding it, you just have to put a Pokémon of yours there.

If you feel daring and have the power to do so, you can go to a rival Gym. By lowering the prestige of the opposing team, they will be expelled from the Gym, so you can occupy their space. Of course, pay attention to possible retaliation.

To earn coins, the important thing is that you have a Pokémon defending the Gym. To maximize your earnings, keep in mind that you can have up to a total of 20 Pokémon in different Gyms, with 1 in each. For that reason, instead of putting just one Pokémon, look for more Gyms and place as many as you can!

Step 2 – Take out the Pokemon every so often

Once you have placed a Pokémon in a Gym, it will save 1 Pokécurrency every 10 minutes. That implies that you can get about 6 per hour. While that sounds pretty good, we are limited to 50 coins per day, regardless of how many Pokémon you have in Gyms.

Also, to get these coins it is necessary to go to the Gym and get your Pokémon out of there. This will force us to wait 21 hours to be able to use this functionality, so you will not really get more than 50 coins per day.

For that reason, our advice is to have as many Pokémon as possible in Gyms. Wait a few hours and then take them out of there, before or right after accumulating 50 coins. In this way, you will maximize your profits in a comfortable way, but do not hesitate to be vigilant to defend your Gyms.
