How to rank up in TFT!

Among the Ranked system of League of Legends Y TeamFight Tactics there are certain differences that you should know. The way to raise in both games is different, with a easier to move up and down ranks in TFT. The developers of both games are the same, but they wanted to create a different dynamic for their new autobattler.

Here are some key issues related to the Ranked Mode system in TeamFight Tactics.

Promo series do not exist in TFT

Riot Games has wanted to eliminate these series in TeamFight Tactics. The reason behind this is that the games are different from League of Legends. In each of them you play against 7 opponents and there can only be one absolute winner. However, the rest may have played very well or very badly and there is not a single loser.

In his words, it would be unfair to force you to win games to get through promotional sets. Instead, what will happen is the following:

  • When you reach 100 LP (League Points), you will go immediately to the next division or league, without having to play another game. Any amount of extra LP you have earned in the match will carry over to your new rank.
  • When you reach 0 PL, you will not be relegated in a division or league. You will have another chance of at least being among the first 4 places in the game, in order to avoid relegation.
  • If you belong to the Challenger or Grandmaster league, if you lose a game while being at 0 LP, you will be immediately relegated to Diamond I. That is, you will skip the Master league.

You will gain and lose a lot of League Points

If you’re used to playing Ranked mode League of LegendsBe prepared for sudden changes. Like the games of TFT have different dynamics, LP gains and losses will vary greatly.

Let’s start at the ends. If you finish the game in first position, you will earn much more PL than the rest, since you will have won against 7 players. On the other hand, being the first to be eliminated will cause you to lose more LP than you should. Therefore, it is in your best interest to finish as high as possible in each match.

In case of being in 4th position or higher, you will usually get LP. If you finish 5th or lower, it is common for you to lose LP. However, depending on how the game progresses and how long you stay in the game until you’re eliminated, you can earn more or less LP!

As you will see, although the final position is important, it is essential strive and last as long as possible. Be tough and you will be rewarded!

You can play with friends but there are some limits

We all like to play with our friends and partners in life. The best thing about playing competitive games is playing alongside or against people you know. Unfortunately, there are limits to the quantity:

  • If all of you belong to the Gold league or lower, you can form a group of up to 5 people.
  • If you or one of your colleagues is Platinum or higher, you can form groups of at most 3 people.

In addition to this, there are also restrictions on partying depending on rank. Here’s a table that Riot Games created:

Play with friends in Ranked TFT
Table of restrictions to play Ranked with friends – Riot Games

To clear up all possible doubts, this is how it works:

  • If you belong to the Iron, Bronze or Silver league: You can only join friends from the Iron to Gold league.
  • If you belong to the Gold league: You can only join friends from the Iron to Platinum league.
  • If you belong to the Platinum League: You can only join friends from the Gold to Diamond league.
  • If you belong to the Diamond league: You can only join friends from the Platinum to Challenger league.
  • If you belong to the Master, Grand Master or Challenger league: You can only join friends from the Diamond to Challenger league.

These restrictions are very important, since, otherwise, the games would be very unequal. In this way, you can be sure that you will play against opponents with a level similar to yours.

Ranked Mode Rewards

For now, there is no word on prizes for Ranked mode. Employees at Riot Games have a desire to reward each player’s performance, but they’re still at it. Remember that the game is still in development! As soon as they comment on Ranked news, we will update the article and keep you informed.
